Keurig Alta

Coffee Pucks Replace Plastic Pods

Keurig Alta is a single-serve coffee and espresso machine built around AltaRounds, pressed tablets with no individual plastic or aluminum capsule. A thin plant-based coating holds each round together and helps build brewing pressure, then the whole used puck can go into home or commercial compost with the grounds.

A Printed Code Sets the Recipe

Each AltaRound carries a machine-readable recipe code that tells the brewer how to handle temperature, pressure, and drink style. The machine can prepare regular coffee, single and double espresso, lattes, and cappuccinos, with a color touchscreen guiding the process and an integrated frother handling hot foam or cold foam.

Old K-Cups Still Fit

Alta does not force an immediate break with the enormous K-Cup catalog. It remains backward-compatible with standard pods, so a favorite tea, cocoa, or coffee can share the same machine while the AltaRound selection grows beyond Keurig's first six coffee and espresso varieties.

Early Access Comes as a Bundle

The $499.99 early-access package includes the brewer, four boxes of AltaRounds, and glassware by Ethan Rode of FLUR. It is available in the US through October 15 while supplies last, with orders shipping October 21, making this an ambitious first step toward less wasteful convenience coffee rather than a quiet pod update.
