Microsoft Surface Pro 12-inch with Snapdragon X2 Plus

The Small Surface Pro Gets a Faster Foundation

Microsoft's 12-inch Surface Pro keeps the portable tablet-and-kickstand design while moving to Qualcomm's Snapdragon X2 Plus. The new chip targets the performance weakness of last year's compact model without making the device larger.

A Brighter Canvas for Pen Work

The 12-inch screen now reaches 500 nits, 25 percent brighter than before. Microsoft is also launching Ink Canvas, a pen-first app for sketching, annotation, image generation and text summaries. The Surface Slim Pen and $150 keyboard remain separate purchases, so turning the tablet into a complete drawing or laptop setup still adds to the base price.

More Memory and Optional 5G

Configurations pair 16GB or 24GB of RAM with 256GB or 512GB of storage, and mobile users can choose 5G connectivity. Microsoft claims the X2 Plus delivers 60 percent faster graphics, 95 percent better on-device AI performance and 18 percent greater battery efficiency than the prior chip.

Portability Costs More This Year

Pricing starts at $1,149, pushing the small Pro beyond its former budget role. The reason to choose it over Microsoft's larger models is still the 12-inch footprint, now with fewer compromises in speed and outdoor visibility.
