Retroid Pocket Duo Lite Plus

Flagship Power in the Smaller Duo

The Retroid Pocket Duo Lite Plus combines the slimmer body of the Duo Lite with the Qualcomm Dragonwing Q-7790 processor used by the flagship Duo. It exists because buyers wanted the compact model without accepting its lower-powered chip. At $219, it creates a middle option for handheld players who care more about portability than the larger flagship chassis but still want its processing hardware.

A Late Addition That Changed Existing Orders

Retroid announced the Lite Plus just over a week after opening orders for the Duo and standard Duo Lite. That timing frustrated people who had already chosen the lower-powered model without knowing a compact upgrade was coming. The company paused unshipped Duo Lite orders and offered buyers a choice: keep the original device or exchange it for the Lite Plus. Retroid is covering shipping and exchange costs for customers who move up.

Early Buyers Get Twenty Dollars Off

An early-bird code lowers the preorder price from $219 to $199, and shipments are expected to begin in mid-November. The awkward rollout is part of this product's story, but the final configuration fills an understandable gap. The Duo Lite Plus is for someone who wanted the small version from the start and was waiting for its internals to match the more expensive model.
