Smart Glasses Without a Screen in the Way

Samsung's first Android XR glasses take the lighter, display-free route rather than projecting graphics across the wearer's view. A built-in camera and microphones give Gemini the context to answer questions about the surroundings, while audio delivers responses without turning the frames into a full mixed-reality headset.

Gemini Handles the Errands

Voice requests can call up walking directions, suggest a nearby coffee shop, place a pickup order, summarize important messages, or add an event to the calendar. The camera also supports hands-free photos and lets Gemini translate menus and signs, with spoken translation designed to match the original speaker's voice.

Warby Parker and Gentle Monster Shape the Frames

Samsung has shown designs created with Warby Parker and Gentle Monster, giving the launch more than one aesthetic direction. Weight is targeted at up to five grams less than the 51-gram base Ray-Ban Meta model, an important difference for glasses meant to stay on for hours.

The Display Comes Later

These camera-equipped models arrive in November, though Samsung has not named a specific day or price. Android XR glasses with color displays are planned later, leaving this first generation focused on voice, capture, translation, and phone-connected assistance.
