Stranger Than Heaven (game)

One Life Across Five Cities and Fifty Years

Stranger Than Heaven follows Makoto Daito from 1915 to 1965 as he searches for somewhere to belong. Born to an American father and Japanese mother, he leaves persecution in the United States for a Japan he knows mainly through hope, then survives through five eras of upheaval.

A Dangerous Voyage Starts the Story

Makoto sneaks onto a ship leaving San Francisco while even the police avoid the vessel. There he meets Yu Shinjo, another mixed-race stowaway seeking a new life, and Orpheus, a merchant with flexible ideas about legal cargo. Shinjo becomes Makoto's sharp-witted companion, while Orpheus recognizes his gift for music.

Snoop Dogg Joins a Huge Japanese Cast

Yu Shirota portrays Makoto, Dean Fujioka plays Shinjo and Snoop Dogg appears as Orpheus. Singers Tori Kelly and Ado join a cast that also includes major Japanese performers. RGG Studio has even recreated late actor Bunta Sugawara from archival footage and photographs, with Takashi Ukaji providing the character's voice.

Music, Crime and a Changing Japan

Makoto's path crosses merchants, singers, yakuza figures and soldiers as cities and decades change around him. The long time span gives RGG Studio room to connect one man's survival story with the cultural and criminal history shaping each stop.
