The Hybrid Cherokee Earns Its Trailhawk Badge

The 2027 Cherokee Trailhawk gives Jeep's new compact crossover the hardware its rugged name demands. Ground clearance rises by an inch to nine inches, 245/65R17 all-terrain tires add bite, and reshaped front and rear fascias improve clearance when the route gets steep.

A Real Low Range and a Locked Rear Axle

Jeep's Active Drive II system can run in two- or four-wheel drive and includes a two-speed transfer case with a 2.92:1 low range. A 37.5:1 crawl ratio and electronically actuated mechanical rear locker give the Trailhawk two tools most compact crossovers simply do not offer.

Protected for Rocks and Water

Steel skid plates shield the front axle, wiring, and fuel tank, with a separate protection plate for the hybrid battery. Jeep rates water fording at up to 24 inches, along with a 28.8-degree approach angle, 21.9-degree breakover angle, and 31.8-degree departure angle.

Capability Without a Fuel-Economy Collapse

The turbo-hybrid system keeps the standard Cherokee's 210 horsepower and 230 lb-ft of torque through an E-CVT. EPA estimates land at 33 mpg city, 29 highway, and 31 combined, a useful counterweight to all the trail hardware. Order books are open at $44,625 including destination, with production beginning later this year.
