Valhalla May Lose Its Fixed Roof

An open-top Aston Martin Valhalla is rumored to be in development as a companion to the limited-production coupe. The idea is easy to picture: the mid-engined plug-in hybrid with more sky above its carbon-fiber cockpit. Aston Martin has not announced the Spider, though, and talk of a November 2026 reveal remains unverified.

A Targa Is One Possible Answer

Current rumors point to a removable targa-style roof panel rather than a folding soft top. If built, the Spider would likely begin with the coupe's carbon-fiber monocoque, aluminum subframes, pushrod front suspension, and five-link rear setup. It could also inherit the coupe's Mercedes-AMG-sourced twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 and hybrid system, which produces a little over 1,000 horsepower. Those details are logical starting points, not specifications Aston Martin has confirmed for an open car.

Weight Will Tell the Real Story

The coupe targets a dry weight of roughly 3,649 pounds. Removing a fixed roof usually requires extra reinforcement, so the challenge would be preserving Valhalla's balance while adding bracing and roof hardware. That matters more than simply cutting an opening overhead. If the rumored Spider appears, its weight, structural changes, and roof mechanism will show whether it is a focused variant or a softer way to experience the same powertrain.
