BMW's New Electric SUV Reaches America

The 2027 BMW iX3 brings the company's Neue Klasse electric-car generation to the US as an SUV. In 50 xDrive form, it starts at $61,500 and carries an EPA-estimated range of up to 434 miles. US deliveries have begun ahead of BMW's original September 25 plan, putting the new model in buyers' hands sooner than expected.

Ten-Minute Charging, a Wider Dashboard

The iX3 can accept up to 400 kW at a DC fast charger, with BMW quoting as much as 231 miles of added range in ten minutes under suitable conditions. Inside, a 17.9-inch central screen works with Panoramic Vision, a 43-inch display that stretches across the base of the windshield. Those features make the iX3 a showcase for BMW's new electric platform, not just another battery-powered version of an existing SUV.

Demand Is Already Testing the Factory

BMW has taken more than 100,000 iX3 orders in Europe and added a third shift at its new Debrecen, Hungary, plant to increase output. Its 50,000th iX3 left the line at the end of July, only nine months after series production began. The US arrival puts that factory ramp-up to a new test, with American buyers now able to see whether the iX3's range, charging, and redesigned cabin live up to the demand it has drawn overseas.
