An E-Reader Small Enough for a Pocket

The Boox Picco takes the e-reader idea down to a 3.97-inch black-and-white display and a weight of just 58 grams. It is closer in scale to a small field notebook than a tablet, making it easy to carry for short reading sessions wherever a larger reader would feel excessive.

Front Light Without the Phone Distractions

Despite the tiny screen, the Picco includes a front light for reading during the day or at night. An included case adds magnetic attachment, letting the reader sit on the back of a phone even though the device itself is not magnetic. That creates a compact second-screen setup centered on books instead of notifications and social feeds.

Boox Leaves Android Behind

Unlike many Boox readers, the Picco does not run Android or install third-party apps from Google Play. Books can be transferred through a companion app or loaded as EPUB files through the SD card slot. That simpler system trades direct Kindle and Google Play Books access for a more focused reading device.

Two Prices Depending on the Warehouse

Preorders start at $99, although the US warehouse currently lists the Picco at $109. Orders are expected to ship around October, giving the smallest Boox reader a quick path from its IFA preview to customers.
