Bose Refines Its Clip-On Flagship

The second-generation Ultra Open Earbuds keep Bose's distinctive cuff that clips around the ear, leaving the ear canal free. This is still open-ear listening, so it will not block a noisy room like a sealed noise-canceling pair. The upgrade is in the parts you notice after wearing them for hours: a new driver promises stronger bass and more volume, while a beveled finish gives the metallic caps a cleaner look.

More Control Over What You Hear

Cinema Mode brings Bose's spatial audio treatment to films, shows, and video podcasts. The Bose app also offers three-band EQ and Auto Volume, and the earbuds can stay connected to two devices over Bluetooth 5.4. A launch-day update adds Google Find Hub and Alexa+ support, while an Apple Music shortcut opens a chosen playlist. These additions give the Ultra pair a different role from the new Sport model's workout-first design.

Battery life is rated at up to nine hours per charge, with another 19.5 hours in a redesigned wireless-charging case that can stand upright.
