2027 GMC Sierra

The Sierra's Screen Makes Room for CarPlay

The 2027 GMC Sierra will be one of the first GM vehicles to receive a new dashboard interface that includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. That is a meaningful turn for a company that had planned to drop phone projection from future models. In the Sierra, the phone view lives in a smaller on-screen card, leaving the truck's own information visible beside it.

Truck Data Stays Close at Hand

The layout keeps trip and trailer information on screen, with climate controls anchored along the bottom. A revised home screen and higher-contrast display hardware are meant to make the system easier to read and navigate. Drivers using Super Cruise will also see a new 3D representation of nearby traffic, rather than relying on a simpler visualization of the road ahead.

More Than a Phone Mirror

GM's built-in Google apps remain available without connecting a phone, and over-the-air updates can continue refining the system. For Sierra owners, the appeal is choice: use familiar phone apps when they are useful without surrendering the vehicle controls that matter during a long haul or while towing. The Sierra and Silverado introduce the interface before it spreads to more GM vehicles.
