The New i3 Turns Up the Heat

BMW is preparing an i3 M60 as the performance step between the regular electric 3 Series family and the eventual full M car. It takes the new i3 sedan shape and gives it the kind of sharper bodywork and extra output expected from an M Performance model.

Two Motors, Four Driven Wheels

The i3 M60 uses a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup, giving it a clear mechanical distinction from a basic rear-drive electric sedan. BMW has not published a final power figure, but the M60 badge places it above the i3 50 xDrive and its 464 horsepower, leaving room for a substantial jump without crossing into electric M3 territory.

Carbon Details Signal the Upgrade

Visible carbon-fiber additions and small aerodynamic fins help separate the M60 from quieter i3 trims. The changes are not simply decorative shorthand: they give the sedan a more aggressive profile while keeping it recognizably part of BMW's new electric 3 Series line.

The Middle Ground May Be the Sweet Spot

The fully fledged electric M3 will be the headline car, but the i3 M60 could suit drivers who want serious straight-line performance without the price or intensity of a dedicated M model. It is expected next year, with the exact output and full equipment list still to come.
