Crystal Lake

Pamela Voorhees Before the Legend

Crystal Lake rewinds Friday the 13th to the grief that poisoned a town long before a hockey mask became its most famous sight. Linda Cardellini plays Pam Voorhees, a single mother still shattered by the drowning of her young, sickly son Jason nearly a year earlier.

Two Strangers Start Digging

The story lurches into motion when a pair of strangers arrives at Pam's door with questions about her past. Their investigation sets off a disturbing chain of events, leaving the people around Crystal Lake to wonder who Pam really is while the new trailer fills the camp with blood, sickness, and ominous glimpses of the violence ahead.

An Eight-Episode Road to Camp Blood

The Peacock series comes from A24, with Brad Caleb Kane serving as creator, writer, showrunner, and executive producer. Eight episodes give the prequel room to make the Voorhees tragedy into a community story, rather than rushing straight toward the murders audiences already know.

Jason's familiar iconography is only the destination here. The sharper hook is watching Cardellini build the human being who will become the first film's killer, with grief and suspicion closing around her before Camp Crystal Lake earns its terrible reputation.
