The Murder of JonBenét Ramsey

A Family at the Center of a National Obsession

Netflix's The Murder of JonBenét Ramsey dramatizes the aftermath of the six-year-old's death on Christmas night in 1996. The case remains unsolved, and the attention surrounding it became nearly as enduring as the original investigation. Rather than promise a resolution that the real case has never had, the limited series centers the Ramsey family and the personal and public reckoning that followed.

Melissa McCarthy and Clive Owen Lead

Melissa McCarthy plays Patsy Ramsey opposite Clive Owen as John Ramsey. Emily Mitchell portrays JonBenét, with Angus Caldwell as her brother Burke. The ensemble also includes Garrett Hedlund, Alison Pill, Shea Whigham, Clifton Collins Jr., Rory Cochrane, Chris Bauer, Will Patton, Margo Martindale, and Tzi Ma. A first-look image places McCarthy and Owen in character, offering an early sense of the series' dramatic approach.

An Unresolved Story, Carefully Told

The series premieres globally on Netflix on December 10. Its subject is a real child's death, not a puzzle with a neat answer, and that distinction matters. The most compelling possibility here is a study of how grief and relentless attention shaped a family, with the famous mystery kept in its proper context rather than treated as entertainment alone.
