Day Drinker

Trouble Boards a Private Yacht

Day Drinker stars Madelyn Cline as a yacht bartender whose routine shift changes when a mysterious passenger walks aboard. Johnny Depp plays that grey-haired stranger, and Penelope Cruz is the criminal figure who pulls both of them into a larger web.

Revenge Story, Ghost Story or Something Worse

The first trailer lets Depp's character offer several competing versions of his past, including revenge and the possibility of a ghost story. His uncertainty turns the title into more than a description of someone drinking early. It suggests a man deliberately hiding what brought him to the boat and why the bartender is connected to him.

Three Careers Meet at Sea

The film brings Depp back to a major Hollywood-backed production, while Cruz returns to a studio thriller after a run of independent projects. For Cline, it is a first post-Outer Banks feature after five seasons as Sarah Cameron. Marc Webb directs, shifting from superhero spectacle and musicals toward a smaller, more suspicious encounter.

A Thriller Built on Unseen Connections

The yacht supplies a polished setting, but the hook is the relationship among its bartender, guest and criminal outsider. Each appears to know only part of the story, leaving the movie's tension in whatever shared history has not yet surfaced.
