McLaren Builds Its First Set of Irons

Series 1 is a modern muscle-back blade from McLaren Golf, a new business within McLaren rather than a badge licensed to another club maker. The company is working toward a complete 14-club lineup with designers Ryan Badgero, JP Harrington, and Jacob Sanborn.

Tungsten Tunes Every Head

Each metal-injection-molded head uses a 16-to-24-gram tungsten bar to move the center of gravity lower in long irons and higher in short irons. A structural honeycomb mesh frees additional weight for positioning, while silicone controls vibration and progressive offset falls from 4 millimeters in the 3-iron to 1.2 in the pitching wedge.

Supercar Pricing Reaches the Bag

The irons cost $375 each, or $2,625 for 4-PW and $3,000 for 3-PW, with right- and left-handed options. Justin Rose, Michelle Wie West, and Ian Poulter are involved as ambassadors and investors, giving the young golf operation recognizable experience around its ambitious launch.
