Takashi Yamazaki Builds a Bigger Machine

Grandgear is a giant robot adventure from Takashi Yamazaki, the writer-director and visual-effects artist behind Godzilla Minus One. Early footage points to a mech-versus-monster spectacle, putting his eye for enormous scale and ground-level consequence into a new science-fiction world.

The film marks Yamazaki's English-language debut after a career made largely in Japan. He is writing, directing, and producing, giving the project a much more personal creative center than a studio assignment handed to a filmmaker after the script was finished.
