Treasure Island (Ridley Scott)

Ridley Scott Sets Sail for Buried Gold

Ridley Scott is directing a new adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island, bringing one of literature's defining pirate adventures back to a large theatrical canvas. The story begins when a young boy discovers a map to a legendary fortune and joins a dangerous voyage to claim it.

Hugh Jackman Plays the Pirate With Two Faces

Hugh Jackman stars as Long John Silver, the charismatic sailor whose help and friendship conceal a far more treacherous agenda. The role gives him the story's most important balancing act: Silver must be persuasive enough to earn a boy's trust and dangerous enough to command a mutinous crew.

Owen Cooper Joins a Loaded Cast

Owen Cooper and Hugh Grant are also set to star, placing two very different screen presences around Jackman's pirate. Cooper's casting is especially important in a tale built on a young traveler's changing view of courage, loyalty, and the adults leading him toward Captain Flint's hidden fortune.

A Classic Rewritten by Jack Thorne

Jack Thorne wrote the screenplay, with Scott and Michael Pruss producing through Scott Free. The new version keeps the core battle of wits between the boy and Silver, but places it in the hands of a director known for physical worlds, uneasy crews, and large-scale historical action. Treasure Island arrives in theaters November 11, 2027.
